I started recording demos for this little movie on 09/16/09 when I realized how many little fun frags you can end up getting when you play Quake LIVE on a regular basis. The final video was rendered on 01/27/10 and took about 28 minutes to render the finished product. The only effects I use in this movie are the slowing down of certain clips to try and sync parts with the music... so if you don't like that, then you probably won't like my movie. :(

I know I am not a pro, don't even consider myself to be all that great... but I do think that I can get a bit lucky at times which helps for getting frags that I thought would go well in a little movie to show off!

I have been playing Quake LIVE since I got into the beta on Feb. 13th 2009 pretty frequently, but not "every day for 5 hours" type of play... I do enjoy it and have had a blast making this little movie and will probably end up making another if I have the time.

The 2 game types I play are "Capture the Flag" and "Clan Arena". When I started making the movie I played mostly CTF but shortly after I moved over to almost always playing CA which has to do with why there are a few frags from CTF games and mostly everything else is from within CA. I still mainly play CA now, but on occasion when I am getting hammered and need a break, I will switch over and play a game or two of CTF. :D

*The NAME of the movie and Lack of Intro / Credits...

First thing first... there is no intro or outro because I am lazy and didn't feel like messing with it. I was learning Sony Vegas while I made this video and wanted to keep it as simple as possible and didn't feel like figuring out how to make a cool intro / outro sequence. The name of the movie: "HASTE!" has to do with my fiancée (now my wife :D) at the time I started playing Quake LIVE (and still to this day) whenever she would here the in-game voice say "HASTE" when it was picked up would always repeat it in the deepest voice she could... I found this so funny and one day when I was talking to her about it, it just came to me and I decided to use it as the name for this movie.

This is great for your first video :)

It's nice to see a new editor who doesn't go crazy with the million different transitions and editing effects you can add in. As many have said before me: less is more. The content itself is, as you said, nothing special. In fact I've seen most of it or similar stuff before. But even with that in mind, due to the length and editing style I wasn't bored at all. This is a solid first video and I hope you make more!

Things to consider next time (all my opinion, take it or leave it)...

1. Sync was good but not 100% perfect in some places. If the sync isn't perfect the hard-hitting impact is lost.
2. Try out some different game configs and After Effects to see if you can bring out some more vibrant colours.
3. Explore some recamming options (I'm not sure how much is possible with QL). This is also a feature like effects that should be used sparingly ... recams are nice but people still want to see the first person content most of the time.
4. And of course ... keep playing and improving your skills!

Also have to add on that it's so nice to see someone use proper tags and a real description! Overall great job! :)

very enjoyable...very good music ( for me ^^ ) quality kicks asses and everythings work smoothly on my 6 years old PC :D Keep it up...waiting for another one from U :P
